A Belgian tourist has been identified as the homicide victim found dead near Boston Bar a few weeks ago.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says Amelie Christelle Sakkalis, 28, was found dead north of Boston Bar, near Highway 1, on Aug. 22 at approximately 7:45 p.m.
Sakkalis was a Belgian national and was travelling in Canada at the time of her death, according to IHIT.
Investigators believe she was hitchhiking from the Penticton area and heading to Vancouver.

A man was arrested at the scene in connection with the homicide but was later released from custody. IHIT said he remains a person of interest.
Police are also particularly interested in a white van found in the same area where Sakkalis’ body was discovered.
IHIT Cpl. Frank Jang said police want to speak to anyone who saw that van on the route between Penticton and Boston Bar.
Jang said police are not ruling out the idea that Sakkalis may have hitched in different vehicles, and is urging anyone with dash cam video from the route on Aug. 22 to contact police.
“IHIT would like to speak with anyone that picked up Ms. Sakkalis from the Penticton area and was travelling to Vancouver on Aug. 22,” said Jang.
“If you were with Ms. Sakkalis on Aug. 22, or you saw her anywhere between Penticton and Boston Bar, we urge you to contact IHIT,” said Jang.
Jang added that Sakkalis’ spoke with a French accent, and urged people in small communities along the route to look at her photo and see if they remember anything.
