Man running from Hamilton to Montreal for Alzheimer’s research

A man is starting a long-distance run in Hamilton to raise money for Alzheimer’s disease research.

David Merpaw is an endurance athlete from Cornwall.

He will start his run from the Alzheimer Society office on Upper Ottawa Street at 10 a.m. Wednesday and hopes to end up in Montreal next Tuesday.

Over 228,000 Ontarians are living with dementia and that number is expected to double in the next 20 years.

David’s route at the moment is scheduled to be:

  • Wednesday, Aug 15: Toronto
  • Thursday, Aug 16: Peterborough
  • Friday, Aug 17: Kingston
  • Monday, Aug 20: Ottawa
  • Monday/Tuesday, Aug 20,21: Montreal
  • Tuesday, Aug 21: Cornwall
