With Labour Day quickly approaching, Canadian Blood Services is urging Kingston area residents to give the gift of life.
The agency has started a national campaign to collect 22,000 by August 26. Canadian Blood Services tries to boost its supply every year at this time as the end of summer is a “particularly challenging time”
O-negative blood is always in demand. Debbi Barfoot is a territory manager based out of Kingston and she says about 50 per cent of Canadians will know or do know someone that has required blood or a blood product in their lifetime.
“So, you might not need it now but there may be a time or a point in your life that you do require it. That’s when blood donations or the personal aspect of why you would donate blood really kicks in.”
The blood service donor clinic in Kingston is located at 850 Gardiners Road and is open three days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
