The city of Ottawa announced Thursday that it will be unveiling a speedhump painted to look three dimensional in a pilot project to calm traffic around the Elmvale Shopping Centre.

A borough in Montreal had already implemented a similar project earlier this month and the area councillor said the goal is to slow down drivers by giving them the impression they may run into the crosswalk.

Mayor Jim Watson and Alta Vista Coun. Jean Cloutier will be on hand Friday at the crosswalk for an official launch on Othello Drive, between Wingate Drive and Chapman Boulevard.
