Police in Chatham-Kent have charged a 24-year-old man after he allegedly threatened to kill his mother.

Officers were called to a home on St. Clair Street around 10 p.m. Saturday.

A man and his mother were arguing when the man broke several dishes, officers said.

They say he then prevented his mother from leaving the home while he continued to argue with her.

According to police, the man was eventually forced out of the home but returned and began kicking the door until he was able to force his way back inside.

It was at that point when he threatened to kill his mother, police said

The man was arrested at the scene and charged with mischief under $5,000, forcible confinement, break and enter and uttering a threat.
