NIPIGON, Ont. – A Mississauga, Ont., man is facing a long list of charges after a passing motorist turned him over to provincial police in northern Ontario.
OPP allege the man was pulled over early Tuesday morning for speeding in Nipigon, Ont., but sped off.
Police say they did not begin a pursuit, but released a description of the driver and the vehicle, which they allege was stolen in the Brampton, Ont., area.
They say the vehicle became stuck on a side road off Highway 17 in Wiggins Township about four hours later and the driver asked a passing motorist for help.
Investigators say the motorist recognized him as someone police were searching for and turned him in.
A 33-year-old man is to appear in court Wednesday facing charges that include dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, and three counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
