Peterborough man charged with alleged sexual assault involving girl

A Peterborough man faces sex-related charges involving a girl under the age of 16. Peterborough Police Service

A Peterborough man is facing several sex-related charges involving a girl under the age of 16.

Police say during the first two weeks of July, the man and girl were at an address where the girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and threatened.

“The accused and victim know each other,” police stated.

As a result of an investigation, police on Friday located the suspect and arrested him.

Anthony Craig Weatherup, 30, of Brock Street, is charged with:

  • Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age
  • Sexual interference
  • Invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age
  • Uttering threats
  • Two counts of failing to comply with a probation order
  • Two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking

He appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on Saturday, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court later Monday.
