Charges have now been laid against both the driver of a truck and the cyclist who was injured in an incident on Wednesday, July 18, that put a man in his 50s in hospital.
Hamilton police say after speaking with witnesses and reviewing video from the intersection of Barton Street and Gage Avenue, it appears the driver of the truck actually did stop to help the cyclist.
However, he then left the scene.
The cyclist was taken to hospital and at last report was in stable condition.
Police say the 40-year-old truck driver has been charged with driving under suspension and failure to report an accident.
The cyclist has been charged with failing to stop at a red light.
Hamilton police are reminding drivers that remaining at the scene of a collision is your responsibility and you must render all possible assistance and provide personal identification, driver’s licence number, insurance material, vehicle permit and registered owner information.
