Police arrest Winkler man, searching for 2 suspects after shooting, assault in Portage la Prairie

RCMP are looking for two men and have arrested a third after a shooting and assault in Portage la Prairie in July.

Around midnight on July 15, officers responded to a report of gunfire near 17th Street NW.

They found a 20-year-old man who had been shot. The victim was sent to hospital in stable condition.

Shortly thereafter, officers found an 18-year-old man nearby who had been severely assaulted.

He was also sent to hospital — initially in unstable condition but was upgraded to stable.

Police have arrested Tyler Tukundum, 26, of Winkler and have charged him with aggravated assault. He appeared in court on Wednesday.

Warrants have been issued for Jonah Perswain, 18, of Portage la Prairie, who faces a total of 15 offences including attempted murder and aggravated assault, and Tommy Beaulieu, 21, also of Portage la Prairie. He also faces aggravated assault charges, along with discharging a firearm with intent and others.

Perswain is described at five-feet-six-inches tall and about 160 pounds. Beaulieu is described as five-feet-11-inches tall and 165 pounds. He has a tattoo above his right eyebrow, as well as dollar-sign tattoos on his arms.

Police say both men are considered armed and dangerous. No one should approach them if they are seen.
