RCMP looking for pair charged with fraud in connection with mail thefts

Police are asking for help locating a man and woman charged with cashing cheques stolen from rural Manitoba mailboxes.

Oakbank RCMP arrested Brady Laverdure, 29, and Ryan Fortescue, 44, June 29 in connection with more than 200 complaints about mail being stolen from mailboxes in a number of rural municipalities, including Springfield, East St. Paul and Selkirk.

The pair were charged with possession of stolen property and forgery. They were also charged with fraud after police learned the two were receiving Employment  and Income Assistance using false addresses.

They were released on a promise to appear following their arrest, but have since failed to show up in court.
