There is now a full fire ban in effect for the Township of Oro-Medonte, as the fire danger rating shifted to extreme.
The ban was issued by Fire Chief Hugh Murray on Thursday morning and is effective immediately. It applies to all burning outdoors, including all open-air burning and fireworks.
According to a release issued by the township, the ban is due to the lack of precipitation and extremely dry conditions the area has experienced lately.
Township staff are reminding residents that all outdoor fires and fireworks are prohibited throughout Oro-Medonte until further notice from the Fire Chief’s office.
