Waterloo police say thieves made off with a substantial amount of gold, diamonds and other jewelry during a weekend robbery in Cambridge.
Police said that employees of the store arrived Monday morning to discover that the Diamond Outlet, located at 27-100 Sheldon Dr., in Cambridge, had been robbed.

Police were called in a short time later. Police said the thieves cut a hole in the ceiling to enter the store before making off with the loot.
It is uncertain when the thieves committed the crime as it may have happened anytime between closing time on Saturday through Monday morning, police said.
