Trial resumes for Calgary woman accused of murdering newborns

CALGARY – The Calgary trial of a woman accused of killing two of her newborns and abandoning a third will resume today after testimony from a city police officer.

Contable David Hsu testified Tuesday that blood on a coat sleeve made him suspicious of Meredith Borowiec.

He said he was watching from the steps of Borowiec’s apartment in 2010 as an infant was being rescued from a garbage bin.

Hsu testified that Borowiec claimed she’d been home ill that day but had been told by her boyfriend that a baby had been found in the dumpster.

When he saw blood on her sleeve, He says he began thinking that she was the baby’s mother.
