Car slams into house in Campbellford

One person was taken to hospital as a precaution after a car slammed into a house in Campbellford on Friday morning – Jun 22, 2018

One person was taken to hospital after a car left the roadway in Campbellford, Ont., and drove into a house on Friday morning.

Northumberland OPP responded to the collision on Queen Street around 11:30 a.m., about 52 kilometres southeast of Peterborough.

Police said the driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital as a precaution and two occupants in the home were not injured.

A number of homes in the area were evacuated due to a possible natural gas leak, police said.

Queen Street was closed between the 10th Line West  and Church Street as police investigated.

Two people in the home on Queen Street were not injured. The driver was taken to hospital.

The road was reopened around 1:30 p.m. OPP said residents have been permitted to return to their homes.

“The investigation into the cause of the collision is still on going,” stated Const. Kimberly Johnston.
