The Fairview Park Mall in Kitchener appears to be slated for a giant renovation.

The mall appears set to see major renovations which will not only add more retail space, but two office towers and four residential towers as well, according to the ‘Grand Market District’ proposal seen on Colliers Canada website.

“Grand Market District, located at CF Fairview Park, provides a unique blend of historical and contemporary design. An activated streetscape creates an intimate pedestrian experience weaving together retail, office, restaurants and entertainment,” it says on the firm’s website.

The new office towers are set to offer over 250,000-sq. ft. of retail space. The western tower which is set to be located near the vacated Sears hardware store will be four storeys and 65,960-sq. ft.

The other tower, which will be closer to the highway, will be a much larger U-shaped building which will be 200,655-sq. ft. of office space.

The two buildings will share the “modern brick and beam aesthetic consistent with Grand Market District development.”

The expanded retail space will feature “traditional brick and cobblestone streets and lanes” which will be an ode to Victorian-era industrial architecture.

They are also promising to offer new cafes and restaurants which will feature both interior and exterior dining options.

In addition to the other changes, there will also be a new parking garage which will be a portion of the 3,800 parking spaces on the site.

There is not much information on the proposed residential buildings on the website other than the fact they will be near Kingsway Drive.
