Severe thunderstorms developed in Montana Thursday afternoon and moved up into southern Saskatchewan.
The storms packed quite the punch with heavy downpours which caused flash flooding and washed out roads.
The video below shows the flooded water that filled the car lot at Nelson GM in Assiniboia, Sask.
“One of my parts managers phoned and said we had another flood. It actually happens on a regular basis here, we kind of have an infrastructure problem where enough of the water doesn’t get moved out of here fast enough. So, I came down – started moving all the vehicles kind of thing,” said Curtis Nelson, general manager, Nelson GM, Assiniboia.
Nelson said that this is not the first time they have had to deal with a flooded lot due to rainwater and said there is a storm sewer that typically gets plugged with debris, however, once they remove the debris, it’s then that water begins to dissipate.
“It’s a costly adventure every time, we have to move all the vehicles and it kind of takes a little while, a half a day where you’re kind of out of business,” said Nelson.
The water that flooded the lot had diminished within 30 minutes.
Tracey Kuffner posted the video below of a highway south of Glentworth, Sask. washed out.
Toonie sized hail was reported near Mankota, Sask. and Destiny McPeek posted the photos below of hen egg sized hail that fell near Coronach, Sask.
