Officers received a call from VIA Rail around 4 p.m. Friday and responded to the tracks west of the Clarke Road railway crossing, north of Gore Road.

Police have identified the victim only as a 34-year-old male. Their identity not being released until next of kin are notified, police said.

A spokesperson for VIA Rail confirmed an incident involving its Toronto-bound train #76 in London. They said passengers could expect a lengthy delay until the train was released from the police investigation.

In a tweet around 6 p.m., police said they estimated the train would begin moving around 7:15 p.m., depending on the police investigation.

VIA Rail said none of the 239 passengers or crew members on board were hurt.

While traffic on Clarke Road isn’t affected, members of the public are advised to avoid the area as investigation continues.
