A Houston teenager who got into 20 colleges is asking for an apology after two Fox News anchors called his accomplishment “obnoxious.”
Michael Brown, 17, was accepted into 20 schools, including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Northwestern, University of Pennsylvania, Stanford, Georgetown and Vanderbilt. His 4.68 GPA also landed him full scholarships to every single school he applied to.
Earlier this month, a video of his enthusiastic reaction to the news spread over the internet.
On April 3, anchor Holly Morris and contributor Sarah Fraser from Fox 5 DC reacted to the video of Brown on the show, criticizing him for applying to so many universities and depriving other students of spots at the schools.
“It’s a little ridiculous that this kid applied to 20, taking away a spot and basically waitlisting another kid,” Fraser said.

“I think it’s a little obnoxious because you can only go to one,” Morris said. “You can only take one full ride and you are taking a spot from someone else who worked really hard.”
Many people took to Twitter to criticize the two journalists for the harsh reaction.
After the comment, Brown told Newsweek he wasn’t “too angry” over what they said. But he said he did feel disappointed.
“My disappointment was with the language used to describe me, a minor. To call someone obnoxious and annoying,” Brown told Newsweek.
On April 5, Brown tweeted that he had a “respectful” Skype interview with Morris, but said he refuses to let Fox News air it unless the station issues a public apology.
“I won’t allow the interview to air until @Foxdc provides me with a public apology. Where’s the #humandecency?'” he tweeted.
On Thursday, Brown’s mother told USA Today that her son has yet to receive an apology from Morris or the news station.
Fraser took to Twitter on April 7 and said she did apologize.
“I have apologized to Micheal and he accepted my apology,” Fraser tweeted. “Micheal’s accomplishments aren’t up for debate. I have learned a valuable lesson.”
Brown told USA Today he is still deciding on which university he will go to, with Stanford, Harvard, Yale and Georgetown as the main contenders.
