The value of commercial and institutional construction projects is on the rise in Regina.
In March 2018, there were 25 commercial and institutional permits issued, including permits for alteration work, for a combined value of $21 million.
There were 156 building permits issued, which is down in comparison to last year by 125 when 281 building permits were issued.
“The number of permits issued and overall value for March are lower than 2017, but still positive when looking at historical averages,” said Mayor Michael Fougere.
“I am encouraged by the continued strength in the commercial/industrial sector and the additional investments we are seeing in residential properties.”
With the addition of a new special care home in Hawkstone, the number of multi-attached dwelling units increased by 77 per cent over last year.
One building permit valued at over $1 million was issued for a new special care home in Hawkstone, valued at total $17 million.
The City of Regina reminds all residents that a building permit is required to construct, demolish, build an addition or renovate a building.
The City issues permits and reviews plans to ensure they comply with all current building codes, bylaws and other applicable regulations.
