A plumber from Ennismore will put some of his $100,000 lottery winnings towards helping his children purchase homes.
Anthony Timperio matched the last six of seven numbers to claim the $100,000 Encore prize in the March 23 Lotto Max draw.
The 51-year-old says he’s a regular lottery player and always plays the $1 Encore draw.
The winning ticket was purchased at Jackson Park Convenience on Parkhill Road in Peterborough.
Timperio stopped at the store on his way home from work to check his tickets.
“I used the ticket checker to scan my ticket and the words ‘Big Winner’ appeared,” he recalled. “I brought the ticket to the store clerk to validate it and she told me to wait for a call from the OLG.”
When he got home he texted his wife of 26 years to call him.
“When she finally called me back I asked her if she was sitting down,” he recalled. “Then I told her I won $100,000 with Lotto Max. She didn’t believe me until she came home and saw the confirmation slip.”
The couple have three children.
“Each will be getting some money for a down payment towards a house,” he said. “Life was always good, but now the journey isn’t so stressful.”
