Clean up work is continuing in Naramata– a community hit hard by last week’s significant rainfall event.
That includes a home above Gammon Road that flooded– forcing the residents to evacuate.
The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen activated its emergency operations centre to help the evacuees.
The homeowners said it’s been a nightmare for the past four days trying to clean up the mess.
“We came home on Thursday night at about 9:30 to a landslide in front of our house, and a waterfall coming over and a river going down our lane way,” resident Alex Lea said. “I’ve been digging for four days. I’m exhausted and like where is the help? I’m upset, I’m angry, and exhausted and I don’t know what to do.
The RDOS said it’s waiting on the results of an engineering assessment before the residents have the green light to return home.
