When there’s snow, a snowball fight is necessary and these kids decided there were no better targets than a pair of police officers in New York on Wednesday.
Video posted to Twitter by the New York Police Department shows several kids approaching the officers with snow in their hands before beginning to pelt the police with snow.
NYPD’s Patrol Borough Brooklyn North Det. Kaz Daughtry and officers John Dorrejo and Richard Russo were patrolling in east New York during a nor’easter hitting the region when they were challenged to the fight.
The battle did not go well for the officers, however, who saw themselves covered by snowball after snowball, with one officer even crouching down as the children surrounded him. Their own shots appeared to lack proper aim, as very few hit their targets.

During the snowball fight, the officers noticed the kids were only wearing plastic gloves so they decided to return with warm gloves for the kids.
“You got plastic gloves on,” one officer can be heard saying in the video as they handed out gloves. “How are you going to play in the snow with plastic gloves?”
Russo told Inside Edition they bought the gloves because they wanted to have fun.
“We just want to have fun with them and let them know we are here to have fun with them,” he said. “It’s a snow day. If you want to have a snowball fight, don’t be afraid to throw a snowball.”
The Twitter video has been seen more than 23,000 times.
