Winter storm rolls in with heavy snow, strong wind and treacherous travel conditions.
Saskatoon Forecast
Thursday
A few patches of mist and cool conditions started out the second full day of spring in Saskatoon as temperatures dipped back to -11 and wind chills fells down to -17.
Sunshine stuck around through the morning, helping warm us up toward the freezing mark before noon.
Friday
Heavy snow pushes into the Saskatoon area mid-morning, which will be coupled by strong winds around 40 km/h with gusts upwards of 60 km/h creating near zero visibility at times with treacherous travel conditions likely.
Snow continues through the day as we warm up toward and possibly just above the freezing mark with a total of five to 10 centimetres of snow expected in the city before it moves out by evening.
Weekend
We could see some more snow later on Saturday and into early Sunday as another wave of clouds with an upper disturbance roll in, but this time we aren’t expecting significant accumulations.
Our afternoon high should manage to make it to and potentially just above freezing on Saturday before a slightly cooler Sunday with partly to mostly cloudy skies.
Work Week Outlook
Some sunshine with a few clouds will start off our work week with slightly cooler temperatures moving in behind the system before we rise back up above freezing by mid-week as clouds roll back in.
