Manitobans have a new chance to chase Olympic dreams

WATCH: On Saturday, March 17th at the Dakota Community Centre, Olympic officials will be searching for young athletes with raw talent that could be future Olympic stars – Mar 15, 2018

Manitobans will soon have the chance to see if they have what it takes to be an Olympian.

RBC Training Ground is a free event in which athletes ages 14 to 25 are encouraged to see if they could be suited for an Olympic sport. The events will give local athletes the chance to test their skills in front of officials from 14 different Olympic sports.

Testing includes 40/30 meter sprint, isometric mid-thigh pull, vertical jump, 20-metre multi-stage shuttle run (beep test), six-second bike sprint, concept dyno, single broad jump, standing triple jump, and arm-leg bike.

Over 30 locations across the country will be taking part in the 2018 edition of the program.

Event dates are as followed:

Top performers attending the Winnipeg events (any athletes deemed to have Olympic potential) will advance to a Manitoba regional final on May 5 or begin further testing with specific sports.

Training support from a national sport organization can also be offered to specific athletes.
