Charges against a Calgary man accused of leaving his dog in a hot car last summer have been dropped after he passed away this winter.
The remains of a female black lab were found in the car in Penbrooke Meadows on July 12, 2017, when the temperature soared to about 31 C. The cause of death was hyperthermia.

Jeremy Quaile, 45, was charged with causing an animal to be in distress.
In September, an arrest warrant was issued for Quaile.
Alberta Justice confirmed Monday the case returned to court in mid-February, where the charges were withdrawn after lawyers learned Quaile died in December.
