Cochrane RCMP originally received the threat to “shoot a public place,” which was made via social media, CPS said Tuesday.

After RCMP determined the threat originated in Calgary, the investigation was handed over to the CPS.

The threat did not specify any specific times or locations in Cochrane or Calgary that were at risk.

Vicky Penny, 34, of Calgary was arrested on Friday and charged with one count of public mischief. She has been remanded into custody and is awaiting a court date.

The online threat was unrelated to two other separate threats the CPS responded to that day. Officers also evacuated and searched Columbia College after receiving a bomb threat. In a third incident, police investigated a threat made on social media that referenced Robert Thirsk High School and determined it came from a hacked account.
