Local poet Najwa Zebian will be speaking at this year’s International Women’s Day Breakfast.

“Najwa is a well-known poet, writer and educator, and her words are really, truly powerful. It’s amazing to have her at the breakfast,” said Fabienne Haller of the London Abused Women’s Centre.

According to the London Abused Women’s Centre’s (LAWC) website, since self-publishing her first collection of poetry and prose in 2016, Zebian has become an inspiration to people worldwide and has become a voice for women everywhere.

The breakfast, which will be held at the London Convention Centre on March 9, also features live music and two auctions.

The event runs from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Doors will open at 6:30 a.m. to start the silent auction.

“We have over 120 packages for you, so anything you can imagine,” said Haller

There will also be live music featuring the Maple Sugar Band starting at 6:30 a.m., and Zebian will be speaking.

Although the live auction features just three or four items, Haller says there’s always something special.

“We always do something truly unique, something that you probably won’t find in other live auctions,” said Haller.

“This year, we have two of Tessa Virtue’s ice-dancing dresses as well as tickets to the Stars On Ice, so you can see Tessa and Scott perform.”

Tickets are $50 each or $450 for a table. They can be purchased online here.
