Canada’s gold-medal streak in women’s hockey came to an end on Day 13 of the 2018 Winter Olympics at the hands of the Americans.

Women’s hockey
Canada had to settle for a silver medal in women’s hockey after losing 3-2 in a tense shootout to Team USA. It was the first women’s hockey gold medal game to be decided in a shootout.
Short track speed-skating
It was a good day for Canada on the short track. Kim Boutin won a silver in the women’s 1,000-metre event. This was her third medal of the Olympics.
The men’s relay team seemed a bit disappointed to come in third in the 5,000-metre race after spending most of the last few laps in first place but still went home with a bronze.
Men’s freestyle ski halfpipe
Canada’s Noah Bowman missed the podium in the men’s ski halfpipe event after finishing fifth overall with a score of 89.40. Fellow Canadian Mike Riddle finished sixth.
Women’s snowboard big air
Spencer O’Brien finished ninth in the debut of the big air event while Laurie Blouin finished 12th.
Men’s curling
Canada’s Kevin Koe fell to the U.S. in the Olympic curling semifinal, losing 5-3 to skip John Shuster. This means that Canada moves to the bronze medal game on Friday.
The United States will face Sweden in the gold medal match on Saturday.
Chris Del Bosco update
Chris Del Bosco suffered four broken ribs, a bruised lung and a fractured pelvis as a result of the horrific crash during the men’s freestyle ski cross event on Wednesday. The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) said Thursday, the Montreal native is in stable condition and is under observation.
“After a full assessment by Canadian Olympic Committee’s doctors, it is confirmed that Del Bosco has four rib fractures, a pulmonary contusion, and a stable pelvis fracture,” the COC said. “We wish Chris a speedy recovery and all of Team Canada is behind him.”
