Shooting in Surrey sends one man to hospital

Surrey RCMP confirms one person was taken to the hospital in serious condition after a shooting in Surrey’s Whalley neighbourhood Saturday.

Officers were called to 105 Ave. near King George Blvd. shortly before 9 p.m.

Mounties say the shooting appears to have been motivated by a disagreement between two men.

Son Thai Lu, 34, has now been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and pointing a firearm. He is known to police.

“There is no known link to the ongoing Lower Mainland gang conflict and we’re thankful no one else was injured,” said Cpl. Scotty Schumann in a release.

The victim received serious injuries and is still recovering.

Anybody with further information is asked to call either Surrey RCMP, or if they wish to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers.
