Abbotsford police believe drugs may have played a factor in a bizarre crash Wednesday night.

Police first received a call about a suspicious vehicle parked sideways in the middle of Oriole Street in the late evening.

Minutes later they were notified a car had driven onto someone’s lawn and into a tree.

Police say while the male passenger was arrested without incident, the woman driver was quite combative and had to be taken down and handcuffed.

Police say the woman is likely facing drug impairment charges as well as possibly an assault charge.

“The car was parked [and] no one was moving inside,” witness Mitchell Thiessen told Global News. “I pulled home from work and went inside and watched and the car just slowly scraped the side of my vehicle and went all the way into the tree.”
