Mayor Nenshi’s chief of staff resigns, moving on to ‘private sector’

Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi’s chief of staff is moving on, according to an email obtained by Global News.

“It’s with decidedly mixed emotions that I announce to you that after seven incredible years, Chima Nkemdirim is leaving the city to follow his dreams in a senior position in the private sector,” Nenshi wrote in an email to council.

“As chief of staff to the mayor, Chima has been an amazing builder of our organization and of the community. His legacy will live around us every single day and we will miss him deeply.”

Nenshi went on to tout Nkemdirim’s dedication to the role, and also call him his “best friend.”

Nkemdirim will leave his post in mid-January. There are no details on who will replace the chief of staff in the short or long-term.
