Fire investigators say the discovery of human remains after a house fire in the Rutland neighbourhood of Kelowna on Monday night was accidental in nature.
Numerous calls of visible flames seen coming out of a home on Gaggin Road at 9:40 p.m. prompted a two-alarm fire response from the fire department.
A search inside the property resulted in the discovery of a body.
Little was said about the victim at the time, and it looks like it will remain that way.
“Investigational findings, as a result of a thorough examination of the fire scene, have allowed RCMP to deem the fire and death as non-suspicious. The blaze is believed to be accidental in nature,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in a statement on Wednesday.
The investigation has been turned over to the BC Coroners Service.
The victim’s name is not being released.
