3 teens charged with attempted murder after Oxford House fire

Three teenagers are facing attempted murder charges after starting a house fire on Thursday.

Oxford House RCMP said that before midnight on Nov. 16, two 14-year-old girls and a 15-year-old boy entered a home in East Back Lake. Once inside, RCMP said they assaulted a 16-year-old boy, started a fire, and then prevented him from leaving the home while the blaze spread.

Another teenage boy on site, a 13-year-old, was able to escape the house.

All five teenagers were eventually able to get out of the home. They were all treated for smoke inhalation.

One of the 14-year-old girls is now facing attempted murder, arson endangering life and unlawful confinement charges.

The other two teens were charged with attempted murder and unlawful confinement.

The home was completely destroyed.

RCMP said Wednesday that the investigation is ongoing, assisted by the Major Crime Services North unit.
