One person was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition Wednesday after being struck by a train near the downtown core.
Few details have been made public, but emergency crews were called to the scene on the CN Rail tracks near Wharncliffe Road and Horton Street around 3:50 p.m.
One person, a male of undetermined age, was transported from the scene to Victoria Hospital in life-threatening condition, said an official with Middlesex-London EMS. The male was located by crews lying next to the tracks.
No other information has been released.
The stopped freight train could be seen from Wharncliffe and Wortley roads and was blocking traffic at the grade-crossing on Ridout Street. The train’s locomotive stopped just north of the Thames River.
The investigation is ongoing.
