Man charged with several offenses after Vernon police officer attacked

A Vernon man has been charged after a RCMP officer was assaulted Monday afternoon.

Police were called to a disturbance at Polson Park where they say a man was “acting erratically by yelling, dancing around and hitting walls of the Lawn Bowling Club.”

He ran away but was later arrested near the Polson Place mall for breaching a previous court order.

While the suspect was being taken into custody a Mountie was assaulted suffering minor injuries.

Ryan Perreault, 26, is charged with assault of a police officer causing bodily harm, assault with intent to resist arrest, fail to comply with a recognizance and causing a disturbance in a public place.
