How Canadians shop for groceries is changing, and Winnipeg is no exception.
As of December, Loblaws will be be the latest grocery store to offer home delivery, and they are looking at deploying this strategy from coast to coast.
On-line shopping has been available in Winnipeg for some time.

Dr. Sylvain Charlebois, Dean of the Faculty of Management at Dalhousie University joined 680 CJOB Nov. 20 to talk about the changes.
“There is traction with buying a lot of things online including food,” said Charlebois. “In fact a couple years ago 1% of food sales were done online and now its more like 3%, so it’s definitely growing.”
Charlebois suggests grocery chains have been silently ‘freaking out’ since Amazon bought Whole Foods earlier this year, as Amazon has a habit of changing entire retail sectors significantly.
“More groceries are banking online and the Loblaws decision is significant because I expect others will follow,” said Charlebois.
