The rainy weekend weather has prompted a warning from the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA).
The UTRCA is asking watershed residents to use extreme caution near all watercourses, saying that the water in streams, creeks and the Thames River is currently cold and fast moving.
The majority of the watershed received an additional 15-to-30 mm of rainfall Sunday, on top of the 10-to-30 mm received earlier in the week.
The conservation authority says the significant rainfall has resulted in the highest water levels in area streams and rivers since spring, with the north part of the watershed receiving the most.
Water levels in London’s Thames River are expected to peak overnight Sunday and into early Monday.
The UTRCA is using the flood control reservoirs at Pittock, Wildwood and Fanshawe to reduce downstream flooding. They say the reservoirs are currently at seasonal levels.
