Montreal police are investigating two separate stabbings early Sunday morning that sent two men to hospital with what police are describing as serious injuries.
The first assault took place at around 2 a.m. inside an apartment on Chomedey Street, near Ste-Catherine Street West, in the Ville-Marie borough.
Preliminary reports indicate the victim — a 60-year-old man — was stabbed several times in the upper body.
He was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

The suspect, also a 60-year-old man, fled the scene but was arrested nearby.
He is now in police custody and is expected to meet with investigators later in the day.
The motive of the attack is not yet known.

The second stabbing took place in the parking lot of a gas station on Lucerne Road and Jean-Talon Street West in the Town of Mount Royal at around 3:30 a.m.
Police said two men in their 40s were inside a vehicle when a fight broke out.
The suspect stabbed the victim with an edged weapon inflicting serious injuries.

The victim got out of the car, while the suspect fled the scene.
He was arrested a short time later on Côte-de-Liesse Boulevard and taken in for questioning.
Police said they presume both men knew each other, but have yet to establish the connection.
The motive of the attack is still under investigation.
