The Goldbloom Awards were held in Montreal earlier this week and several English Quebecers were recognized.
The annual event, established by the The Quebec Community Groups Network (QCGN), is meant to honour individuals who have made an impact on Quebec’s English-speaking community.
“The English community must give itself time to celebrate the achievements of its leaders,” said Sylvia Martin-Laforge, QCGN’s director general.
“It’s an opportunity to come together and celebrate, to take a moment to think about history, what we’re doing now and our future.”
This year, five people received recognition for their efforts.

Clifford Lincoln, James Carter, Sid Stevens and Earl De La Perralle, were each winners of the Sheila and Victor Goldbloom Distinguished Community Service Award, while Claudia Di Iorio won the Young Quebecers Leading the Way Award.
The event has been around since 2009, and Martin-Laforge hopes its success will carry it well into the future.
“The awards have been going on for 9 years and they have become more and more successful every year, with great winners every year,” she said. “We look forward to another 10 years.”
