A Canada Post employee is back to work after white powder flew out of an envelope she was delivering in Senneville, in Montreal’s West Island.
It happened around 2 p.m. Friday.
Canada Post confirmed to Global News that “the content was food powder.”
“We take the health and safety of our employees very seriously,” said Sylvie Lapointe, a spokesperson for the agency.
“The quarantine has been lifted. Employees are back at work.”
Montreal police spokesperson Benoit Boisselle told Global News the postal worker, who is in her 40s, felt irritation in her eyes and had respiratory problems.
She went to the Beaconsfield post office to request help; the paramedics were then called and the office was quarantined.
Montreal police located the person the envelope was intended for, and also confirmed to Global News that the substance was not dangerous.
