Waterloo Regional Police have seized almost $500,000 in drugs as well as some weapons after a lengthy investigation into firearms and drug trafficking in Waterloo Region.
Officers seized about 0.5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine valued at approximately $40,000. Also seized were six firearms, replica firearms, prohibited weapons, offence-related property, stolen property, two stolen vehicles and cash.
Officers executed a search warrant Oct. 24 at three Kitchener homes, a house in Cambridge and at a Kitchener hotel and seized approximately 1.5 kilograms of suspected fentanyl with a street value of about $450,000.
In addition, with the assistance of the West Grey Police Service, officers also executed a search warrant in the town of Durham.
“This is a significant drug seizure,” said superintendent Patrick Dietrich. “We believe that by taking this quantity of fentanyl and other illegal drugs off the streets that we have saved many lives.”
Seven people were arrested in the bust and charged with numerous drugs, weapons and other Criminal Code offences.

- Matthew Duncan FULLER, 33, of Durham
- Dayna Lynn KARGES, 46, of Kitchener
- Luke Adam MARTIN, 32, of Kitchener
- Cassandra Lyn SANGERS, 22, of Kitchener
- Nicholas William SCHMIDT, 26, of Cambridge
