Former FBI director James Comey reveals secret Twitter account

Former FBI director James Comey has had a secret Twitter account for two years under the pseudonym Reinhold Niebuhr.

Comey revealed the secret account Monday by posting a picture of himself while saying goodbye to Iowa.

“Goodbye Iowa. On the road home. Gotta get back to writing. Will try to tweet in useful ways,” he wrote in accompaniment to the photo.

Niebuhr is the name of the late American theologian and political critic.

The account says that Niebuhr joined Twitter in 2014 although the first posting came in March.

There was speculation by Gizmodo that the account was Comey’s back in March, after he let it slip that he had secret Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Gizmodo speculates that the Anchorman tweet was in response to its report that the Twitter account belongs to Comey.

Comey is scheduled to publish a book next spring on ethics, leadership and his experience in government.
