OPP looking for driving who rammed cruiser in a parking lot

The OPP are trying to track down the driver of a black Mitsubishi Lancer who rammed into an OPP cruiser early Thursday morning in a parking lot in the Cambridge area.

No one was injured in the incident however the OPP are looking to the public for help in locating this suspect.

The vehicle was seen driving erratically on Highway 8 at around 4 a.m. Thursday.  OPP officers followed the vehicle onto Fairway Road where it then pulled into a parking lot.

‘This vehicle was driving erratically and the officer followed it into a parking lot and was going to speak with the driver.  The interaction didn’t last very long as the driver of that vehicle proceeded to smash into the side of the police car and then continued a short distance in this parking lot where it turned around and as the officer proceeded towards them again, the suspect vehicle rammed the police vehicle again and then fled the area.  Last seen heading out of the parking lot,” OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in a tweet.

Police are looking for a black 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer, Ontario licence plate BYWF 304.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of this vehicle or the driver is asked to contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
