“As this is a case where an allegation of sexual assault was made, the SIU will not be releasing any further details in order to protect the identity and privacy of the complainant and others involved,” said SIU spokesperson Monica Hudon in an email to CJOY News.

Waterloo Regional Police said the officer is a six-year member and was off-duty when the alleged incident took place.

The officer has been suspended with pay as per the requirements of the Police Services Act of Ontario.

The SIU is an arm’s-length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
