Neighbours alert fire department before flames burn through vacant Calgary house

Calgary fire crews respond to a house fire in the northeast.

Residents in northeast Calgary noticed smoke coming from a home on Rundlecairn Road. The fire department was called to the scene around 11 p.m Thursday.

Fire crews arrived to find the fire had burned through the main floor of the vacant home.

The blaze was contained to the house. Fire officials tell Global News the flames burned through the main level into the basement.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
