The City of Hamilton is on pace for another record year for construction.
Last Friday, economic development officials confirm that the city went over the $1 billion mark in building permits for 2017.
It’s the sixth consecutive year for that achievement, but September 29th marks the earliest point in the year for reaching the milestone.
Director of Economic Development Glen Norton says a 200 per cent increase in the value of industrial construction is a “significant move in the right direction.”
The $1 billion represents over 6,600 residential, institutional, commercial and industrial projects.
Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger says it all confirms that “development is happening, cranes are up” and “we’re seen to be a good place to invest.”
