A young couple from Moncton, New Brunswick, were hoping for a fresh start in Vancouver.
But now that new start is going to be even harder after all their belongings were stolen from their U-Haul parked in Abbotsford.
Police say on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 5 a.m., they received a call of a reported theft from a vehicle from a Park and Ride location at Lonzo Road and Sumas Way.
The caller worked for a moving company and was escorting the van from Moncton to Vancouver.
However, someone broke into the Ford E450 U-Haul cube van and stole all the belongings inside.
Police say the van was found completely empty in Surrey on Sept. 13.
Items stolen from the U-Haul included priceless mementos, including wedding gifts, a bass guitar and a quilt and handmade tool box, which has tremendous sentimental value to the couple.
It also included household furnishings, clothing, kitchen appliances, books and electronics.
Abbotsford police is asking anyone with information to contact them at 604-859-5225, text them at 222973 (abbypd) or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
