Police investigating after woman found injured on Oakville street

TORONTO – Police are investigating after a 22-year-old woman was found badly injured on a roadway in Oakville early Thursday morning.

Police say a bus driver spotted the injured woman lying in the middle of Proudfoot Trail around 1:30 a.m.

The driver and a passenger on the bus attended to the victim, who had obvious signs of trauma.

Police and EMS responded to the scene and transferred the woman to a local hospital where she remains in stable condition.

Members of the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) were called to the scene due to the seriousness of the victim`s injuries.

The CRU are investigating whether the woman was struck by a vehicle or if she fell from a moving vehicle.

Officers believe the female and a friend were dropped off by a taxi in the area after being picked up in downtown Toronto.

Police are looking to speak to the driver of the cab, believed to be a white Toyota Camry with dark leather interior and a taxi number of 2013 or 2310.

The driver is described as male, East Indian, later 20s to early 30s, with short dark hair.

Investigators are appealing to the taxi cab community to call if they have any information on this specific cab or driver.
