Winnipeg police arrest 3rd suspect in Friday shooting

Roy Lionel Laquette, 25,  has been arrested and faces charges in connection to a shooting on Friday as well as another incident from “earlier in the summer.”

At approximately 7:45 a.m. on Sept. 15 police responded to reports of a woman who had been shot in the 500 block of St. Johns Avenue.

A woman in her 20s was found with a gunshot to her upper body. She was rushed to hospital in unstable condition but has since been upgraded to stable.

Laquette was arrested on Sept. 17. He faces charges in connection to the shooting as well as a previous incident:

  • Break and Enter x 2
  • Aggravated Assault x 2
  • Wear Disguise with Intent x 2
  • Robbery
  • Assault with Weapon
  • Assault
  • Discharge Firearm with Intent
  • Possess Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 2
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm x 2
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x 2
  • Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited/Restricted Firearm with Ammunition x 2
  • Possession of Firearm Contrary to Order x 2

Rick Flett, 20, and a 15-year-old teen were previously arrested on Sept. 16 in connection with the shooting.

Flett was charged with:

  • Disguise with Intent
  • Possess Weapon x 2
  • Break and Enter – Commit Aggravated Assault
  • Carry Concealed Weapon – Prohibited
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x 2
  • Break and Enter – Commit Assault

The 15-year-old was charged with:

  • Disguise with Intent
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Possess Weapon x 2
  • Break and Enter – Commit Aggravated Assault
  • Carry Concealed Weapon – Prohibited
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x 2
  • Break and Enter – Commit Assault
  • Fail to Comply Undertaking x 2
