Councillors voted 12-2 in favour of the extra money. The bill increased after council asked staff earlier this year to hold additional public participation meetings and investigate alternate routes for BRT.

The $2.2 million won’t affect the overall $500 million cost of the transit project.

The money increases the amount paid to IBI since 2014 to $5.8 million.

Councillors also voted 12-1 in favour of sending to the budget process a $2-million request from the London Children’s Museum to help with their move in 2018.

Museum officials have estimated it will cost them $15 million to move next year.
